We know that not everyone is comfortable with online high school and that’s certainly normal. There are specific skills and traits that make online high school more suitable for some students but that doesn’t mean that other students cannot thrive in that environment. If a student understands how this environment works and what skills they can sharpen in order to take advantage of an online high school experience, they can also find success.
The first characteristic we’d like to dive deeper into is “Investing In Yourself.”
Think of this much like a piggy bank of sorts. Each time you are introduced to new information that adds to your learning, or you are able to solve that math problem you struggled with for over a week, you have just invested in yourself. Believe it or not, even when you fail at something, you invest in yourself. Each experience and activity you conquer, you strengthen yourself in terms of knowledge, confidence, and abilities but this investment is not complete unless you mentally accept it. If you make a mistake or if you fail at something, the choice you make is either to ignore it or to accept it and continue moving forward with the new knowledge you’ve gained. If you ignore it, not only did you make the mistake but you did not follow through to correct it and you’ve chosen to build a wall around the learning that can take place from that situation. You’ve just given yourself a double whammy and this double whammy can also deplete some of the investment gains you are trying to make. It’s not just a one-way street. If investments can occur for yourself, so can withdrawals.
Remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint. You continually add to your bank over the years and the accumulation of investments will continue to pay off for you now and in the future. Think about how withdrawals will affect the overall investment.

You are worthy just like any other individual trying to get their high school diploma regardless of your circumstances. If you feel that you aren’t deserving or that you just don’t have the smarts to make it through, we say you’re wrong. 90% of the roadblocks come from things that you end up putting in the way of your success. Self-sabotage is a real thing, ask any adult. We’ve done it…many times. We know you will have those moments and we know that those moments will pass. You will persevere and you will accomplish your goals as long as you stay with them. This isn’t a short-term thing and all of the wonderful life lessons that you learn from this journey will help you in the next chapter of your life as well. Celebrate each day that you finish something because all of the little days will culminate in a significant milestone. Learning and growing because of the things that you know and that you allow yourself to be immersed in are all investments for you. It builds your intellectual bank, your social bank, your emotional bank aka YOU! Who better to know what needs to be deposited than you?
