Testing Information
Successful testing is a key component of every student's online high school academic journey. At Hope High School Online, we are committed to providing our students the personalized attention and support necessary to prepare them for performing well on academic assessments. The high-quality education provided by the well-qualified teachers, coupled with a hands-on approach, creates very positive academic outcomes for the Hope High School Online students.
HHSO has a variety of tests administered each school year.
Below is a quick description of each type of assessment.
ACT
ACT is the current year state required assessment for ELA and Math. This 11th grade (cohort 2023) test is the replacement for AzM2. The ELA and Math assessments are considered end of year assessments. This means students will be tested only once, in the spring.ELA is broken into two sections, Reading and Writing. Math will only have one section. All 11th graders (cohort 2023) will need to complete both the ELA and Math assessments.
ACT Aspire
ACT is the current year state required assessment for ELA and Math. This 9th grade (cohort 2025) test is the replacement for AzM2. The ELA and Math assessments are considered end of year assessments. This means students will be tested only once, in the spring. ELA is broken into two sections, Reading and Writing. Math will only have one section. All 9th graders (cohort 2025) will need to complete both the ELA and Math assessments.
AzSCI
AzSCI is the current year state required assessment for Science. This 11th grade (cohort 2023) test is the replacement for AIMS Science. This test has a variety of Science topics and it will be tested only once, in the spring. It will only have one section. All 11th graders (cohort 2023) will need to complete this assessment.
Civics
A 100 question test to be administered to all students. Students must pass this test with at least 60% before a diploma can be issued.
Benchmarks
1 Pre-test:
Math, Reading, and English assessments are administered to students at the beginning of the school year. These tests are used to help establish a student's proficiency baseline.
2 Assessments:
Math, Reading, and English benchmarks will be administered in the middle of the school year. These tests must be taken with an approved proctor.
3 Post-test:
Math, Reading, and English assessments are administered to students at the end of the school year and are used to measure academic growth. These tests must be taken with an approved proctor.
